3 T-shirts produced by Chowoo in collaboration with Nicolai Howalt and his Boxer work, which was made back from beginning of 2000. It is a famous photo project and a book (published in 2003) by the Danish artist and photographer Nicolai Howalt.
The works is a series of double portraits (diptychs) of young boy boxers, photographed just before and immediately after their first boxing match. The project is about: Physical and psychological change: You can clearly see how the nervous and innocent faces transform into exhausted, swollen and marked faces marked by adrenaline, pain, victory or defeat. The transition to adulthood: The book functions as a visual story about meeting resistance, testing one’s own limits and the process of becoming an adult. Contrasts: The work shows the difference between the joy of anticipation (before the match) and the confrontation with the brutality of reality (after the match)
