- Grønningen
This year’s exhibition takes its cue from contemporary crises and shows how 38 artists work in and around this context with an insistent and different seriousness. All walls in the Free Exhibition Building are painted black, while Grønningen FOCUS, the curated addition to the permanent exhibition, lights up the building’s exterior. Two approaches that create a framework for art in a time when it must find its way in and out of the darkness.
The artists’ association Grønningen was founded in 1915 and, with its more than 40 members, is among the largest in the country. Grønningen exhibits at Den Frie every other year, and on December 6 we open the doors for Grønningen 2025, which — in addition to occupying all the exhibition halls — also presents FOCUS, consisting this year of seven curated light works on Den Frie’s forecourt and façade.
